How does the coffee quiz pick your coffee?
The quiz matches your three answers to the coffee we'd pick for you if you asked us yourself. It only suggests coffees that are in stock in a 10 oz bag, and every match comes with a runner-up in case the first one isn't quite you.
The answers that change the pick most are how you drink it and how dark you like it. Milk softens a coffee, so milk drinkers get the bolder roasts. Black coffee drinkers who like it bright get the lighter, fruitier ones.

Start with how you drink it. Coffee with milk needs a medium-dark or dark roast to come through; coffee drunk black shows more of the bean, so lighter roasts taste fruity and bright and darker roasts taste like chocolate and toast.
Roast level decides most of the flavor. Light roasts keep the most fruit, medium roasts are balanced, and dark roasts are rich and heavy. Our coffee roast levels page shows every Gigawatt coffee on one scale.
Then choose a single origin or a blend. A single origin tastes of one place, like Chiapas in Mexico or Tarrazu in Costa Rica. A blend is built to taste the same every bag, which makes it the safer first buy.
Last, buy whole bean if you own a grinder. If you don't, pick the grind for your brewer: drip, pour over or French press.

What coffee should I try first?
Kite & Key Blend, if you’re not sure. It’s our medium-dark blend, smooth and bold without the burnt taste, and it’s where most people start.
Do I have to give my email to take the quiz?

Which coffee is good with milk?
A medium-dark or dark roast holds up to milk. The quiz points milk drinkers who like it rich to Kite & Key Blend, and latte drinkers to Live Wire Espresso Blend.
Is Half Caff a lower-caffeine coffee?
It’s two bags, not one blend: a bag of Kite & Key and a bag of our water processed decaf. You mix them in the scoop, so you choose the strength. Half and half gives you roughly half the caffeine.
Can I pick the grind?
Yes. Choose whole bean, drip, pour over or French press on each coffee.
