How long will it take to receive my coffee after I order?

We strive to fulfill all orders placed through our website between 1 and 3 business days. This means we will pack, and ship your order within 3 business days. We use standard shipping, which can take anywhere between 2 and 7 days to arrive depending on your location. You will receive a tracking number via email of your shipment.

How much does shipping cost?

We charge a flat domestic shipping fee of $5 with no minimum order.  That means you can order 1 bag, or 10 bags, and it will cost you $5.

Do you ship internationally?

No. Currently we are not offering international shipping but will consider it for the future.

Our Coffee

How can you keep your price so low at $11.11 per bag? I thought all small batch fresh roasted coffee costs upward of $15?

At Gigawatt, we don't have the overhead expenses of a coffee shop. We roast out of a warehouse space, to keep our costs down, which allows us to focus on the coffee, instead of croissants to keep the lights on. Our mission is to give our customers fresh roasted coffee at an affordable price.  Great coffee shouldn't cost more.  Where other brands seek to provide you with an experience using branded boxes and fancy packaging, we know the most important thing is what is in the bag, not what is on it. While others constantly offer discounts without rhyme or reason, we just make it easy on you.  $11.11 per bag.

Do you add artificial flavoring, syrups, or any other type of sweetener to your coffee?

Absolutely not! We are purists and believe coffee should be just that - coffee. We rely on the beans and the roasting process to provide those wonderful subtle taste notes that make every one of our single origins and blends unique.

What are the subtle taste notes?

Subtle tastes notes are personal.  Everyone has a different palate and may perceive different taste notes in each of our coffees.  Just like wine, wherein the grape varietal can determine the acidity, aroma, body and taste of the wine, so can the coffee bean determine the various qualities of how a coffee can taste.  Depending on the varietal, altitude of growth, soil, processing, and roasting of a coffee bean, each bean yields a unique flavor.  It is up to the roaster to bring out that flavor, and either offer it as a single origin or create a spectacular craft blend.

I'm allergic to nuts. Are you telling me there are no walnuts in the Kite & Key Blend even though it says it on the bag?

Correct. The only thing we package is roasted coffee beans.  We absolutely do not add anything to our coffee.  In our Kite & Key Blend, we use a combination of beans from Colombia, Brazil, and Guatemala.  Brazilian beans by themselves usually have a slight nuttiness to their taste, which is how we derived the walnut taste note.

What is the difference between a single origin and a blend?

A Single Origin is coffee from one place, or one origin.  A blend is a combination of beans from different places.

About Us

Why the name Gigawatt Coffee Roasters?

We use a fluid bed air roaster that runs on electricity, unlike drum roasters which run on gas.  We were looking into electricity terms, and then a light bulb went on in our heads that shined: Gigawatt Coffee Roasters.

Where are you located?

Our roastery is located in a warehouse space in Bensenville, IL. We keep our operating costs down by having a space that is not open to the public, so that we can offer coffee at a great price.

Who are we?

We are a husband and wife team that started our business in February 2020, a few weeks before everything shut down, which caused us to crumple up our business plan. This is why we don't have a bricks and mortar location. Our roastery is located in a warehouse space which keeps our cost down so we can pass the savings on to you. That way we don't have to sell croissants to keep the lights on - we get to focus on the beans.
