Origin Story - Wahgi Valley Papua New Guinea Coffee
How Our Wahgi Valley PNG Coffee is Grown and Processed
From the volcanic highlands of Papua New Guinea to your cup — here's the journey.
Grown in the Fertile Wahgi Valley
This coffee is cultivated in Papua New Guinea's renowned Wahgi Valley, in the Western Highlands at altitudes between 1,530 and 1,830 meters above sea level. Fertile volcanic soils and old-growth shade trees create optimal growing conditions for specialty-grade coffee with exceptional clarity and depth.
Natural Process for Tropical Sweetness
After hand-harvest between May and October, the cherries are dried inside the fruit under the Papua New Guinea sun. The whole cherries are spread out, allowing the fruit's natural sugars to infuse the beans. This traditional method enhances sweetness and produces the tropical notes of pineapple, persimmon, and macadamia.
High-Altitude Smallholder Farms
Produced by smallholder farmers in the Western Highlands, these coffee cherries benefit from the cool, tropical climate and nutrient-rich volcanic soils of the region. Careful hand-picking ensures only fully ripe cherries are harvested — the foundation of every clean, balanced cup.
100% Heirloom Typica Varietal
Wahgi Valley is one of the only places in the world where heirloom Typica is still widely grown. Typica is the ancestor of nearly all modern Arabica varietals — and it's known for exceptional clarity, sweetness, and a clean, refined cup. Most regions have replaced Typica with higher-yielding varieties; PNG's isolation kept it intact.
Why We Chose This Papua New Guinea Coffee
We chose Wahgi Valley for its reliable, clean taste and unique growing conditions. The combination of volcanic soil, high altitude, and traditional natural processing creates tropical, full-bodied flavor unlike any coffee you've had before. Smooth and approachable, it's perfect for everyday brewing — whether black or with your favorite additions.
From Wahgi Valley, Papua New Guinea to your cup — grown with care, roasted with passion.
